Question from Darren:

I’m on your MP45 Program and I find that eating every 3 hours is hard. I have always ate most of my food from 2pm-8pm. I seen an article on intermittent fasting. I have researched it and it seems to be the wrong way to go but I’m not sure though. Would this be good for me or would it be steering me in the wrong direction?

Answer from Jaret Grossman, Creator of MP45:

Do not do that intermittent fasting. This is not only counter-intuitive to good health but will not result in muscle growth and fat loss as eating frequently does. When you fast for long periods of time and then eat big meals all at once, your body goes through large fluctuations in blood sugar levels. This could eventually lead to diabetes. Also, muscular growth is a byproduct of making sure you get enough nutrients, namely protein, throughout the day. When you fast for long periods of time, your body looks for sources of fuel as energy. If there are no readily available carbohydrates, your body will look for fat (good) AND muscle (bad). Looking lean is all about your muscular composition. So why in the world would we want our muscular tissue broken down? We want to preserve as much muscle mass as possible while burning fat, which is done by increasing our protein intake, eating smaller portions of carbohydrates and eating slow digesting carbs, lifting heavy weights, and implementing the proper cardio regimen.
