Yogurt

Yogurt

Yogurt is a quick, easy, affordable, and very nutritious snack. This fermented dairy product will actually add years to your life as it contains beneficial bacterial cultures, calcium, phosphorus, B-2 and B-12 vitamins, iodine, zinc, potassium, and of course, protein. The live bacteria cultures present in yogurt actually help fight against the bad bacteria located in your gut (stomach, intestines, etc.) to support a healthy and fit life. One research study studied 162 elders for five years and those who ate yogurt and milk more than three times per day had a 38% less occurrence of death than those who ate yogurt and other dairy foods less than once a day. Yogurt is noted to boost individuals' immune response as well in which it can fight off colds. The probiotic-rich dairy increases white blood cell count, preventing against infection by viruses, yeasts, and parasites. Furthermore, yogurt lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and raises HDL (good) cholesterol. Additionally, those who eat dairy products like yogurt are generally leaner than their counterparts who neglect this part of their diet. Just make sure you skip the sugary types and stick to plain unsweetened yogurt or low-fat plain Greek yogurt like Fage or Ghobani.
