Wladimir Klitschko Workout
To prepare for Sultan Ibragimov, Klitschko followed a month-long routine that looked like the following:
Four days a week, he watched his opponent's past fights on-screen, while running, punching, and jabbing with four-pound weights attached to his arms and legs. This not only gave him more motivation, but he could pretend he was fighting these boxers in a real match and mimicking their every move. Not to mention, using weights throughout only adds to his conditioning. In the evenings, he sparred 10 rounds for two hours. Sparring is a necessity for boxers to work on their boxing skills and to keep themselves fresh for a match. A full boxing match can last upwards of 12 rounds so it's important for them to train the distance to help their endurance and get them ready for a full match.
In addition, Klitschko would swim continuous laps in the pool for 40 minutes and added beach runs to his regimen. Swimming gives a whole new cardiovascular component and is more of a full body workout than just standard running. There is constant resistance on your whole body, including your legs, so this only built up Klitschko more. Running on sand also adds further to the cardiovascular component, providing extra resistance on the legs. Klitschko, who's knocked out 44 of his 50 foes, beat Ibragimov to unify the heavyweight title. 'By the middle of the fight, [Ibragimov] knew he was going to lose.'"
