The Best Cologne for Men
With Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching, every guy should know the best cologne to court a lady. Here are the top five colognes to help you go from stag to stallion:
5. Roca wear-Evolution $67 for 3.3 oz
Jay-Z’s brand has done it again. It’s been a banner year for Sean Carter with bringing his daughter into the world, expanding his clothing line, and his 40/40 club being picketed for using non-union labor. However, this cologne is a knock out of the park caliber. The good thing about this cologne is that it doesn’t overpower. It’s alluring enough to get a woman’s attention, but not overbearing like mustard gas. The price is par for the course for a mid-level cologne.
4. Tom Ford-Neroli Portofino $265 for 3.3 oz
This cologne is what you would expect from Tom Ford, quality scent for an exorbitant price. I only know what this cologne smells like because I walked into Macy’s and schmoozed the woman at the fragrance counter. This cologne is for established men only. If a cologne costs more than what you make in a day, it’s not for you. Not many men will have this cologne so it might be worth it to impress the lady of your dreams. But, buyer beware, if she sees that you’re willing to spend this kind of money on a bottle of cologne, imagine what she’ll expect when you’re dating….
3. Eau de Lacoste- $62 for 3.3 oz
I always felt that people that wore Lacoste brand merchandise were kind of, well, jerks for lack of a better term. It’s always that guy wearing sunglasses in the bar, acting like a baller, when you know that he’s spending his entire weeks paycheck in one night. This cologne is pretty solid and in my opinion is tarnished by the Lacoste name. It smells very elegant and sophisticated, just what you need to impress your lady. It has a sweet smell to it that will really make her remember you after you leave. Isn’t that what we all want, to leave an indelible impression on a woman once we’ve left?
2. Dolce and Gabana-$64 for 4.2 oz
I stumbled upon this cologne by accident. I was on vacation in Miami and was in a club near the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. I walked into the bathroom to freshen up after dancing and they had a whole smorgasbord of men’s cologne. I decided to try this one and really liked the scent. It was a little strong, so one spray will do the trick. I had a few older ladies in their 40’s compliment me on how great I smelled. I would brand this one, Cougar Central, because that’s the kind of lady you might attract. Like my dad always says “Women are like wine, they get better with age.”
1. Gucci Guilty-Intense- $79 for 3.0 oz
This is my current cologne of choice. I was reading through GQ magazine and they had one of those cutouts with the scent on it. I went out and bought it that day. This is the finest cologne that I have ever worn. It’s not too strong, but not too weak either. It’s also a “hidden gem” because not many guys wear it, as opposed to the other colognes on this list. I only hope that I don’t let the cat out of the bag and every clown on Long Island starts wearing it after this article. I actually have had a few women compliment me when I go out including the current lady that I am courting.
They say that scent is strongest scent tied to memory. Remember that a lady always remembers the shirt you wore, how your hair looked, and how great you smell. Bring out your A game with one of these quality colognes.
