Sunflower Seeds
These wonderful little seeds make for a crunchy, sweet and delicious snack anytime, providing a rich supply of vitamins and minerals. They are a good energy source since 100 grams of sunflower seeds contain nearly 500 calories, much of which comes from essential fatty acids.
Sunflower seeds, like all nuts, are a good source of protein with 100 grams of seeds providing 21 grams of protein which is 37% of the recommended daily value (DV). They also contain mono-unsaturated oleic acid which helps increase HDL (good cholesterol) and lower LDL (bad cholesterol).
In addition, sunflower seeds pack natural anti-oxidants, are rich in vitamin E, rich in B-complex vitamins, and contain such essential minerals as iron, zinc, calcium, selenium, magnesium and manganese.
