Seize the Opportunity!

Seize the Opportunity!

Countless opportunities are presented to you throughout each day of your life…You just may not know it…

Too often does one waste his talents, time, abilities, and endowments when he could be utilizing them all to fully exploit his potential. Too frequently does time just pass by without there being a genuine realization of actual productivity from an individual or individuals as a whole. Too many times do we see one just sacrifice an opportunity to receive instant gratification, where he could instead hone in on personal improvement. Too often is there an occurrence of “lack thereof” than one of fully reached development.

Thus, this “lack thereof” often results in existence where it becomes too habitual of individuals to lead a life of indolence and “just getting by”. In its place, we should have the vivacity, enthusiasm, and excitement to lead a life worthy of assiduousness and diligence. Put simply, we should always want more out of ourselves.

Opportunities are presented to us so frequently that it simply becomes mere habit to the point where we take time in itself for granted. This may provoke perplexity amongst you, but you encompass an opportunity of a lifetime to achieve your most worldly desires within each moment of each day. As Maltbie Babcock stated most elegantly, "A day dawns, quite like other days; in it, a single hour comes, quite like other hours; but in that day and in that hour the chance of a lifetime faces us." This may seem abstract and vague, but as will be discussed momentarily, we need to utilize each and every moment we have to continually develop into better beings.

Most fortunately, we are always blessed with openings to progress; and whether you like to think so or not, we are always imparted with occasion to advance. We can improve anything we want during any given second of any given day. Think about it. We can improve our minds, our bodies, and our souls. We can improve our intellect. We can improve our strength. We can improve our mental fortitude. We can improve our relationship with our self and others. Most importantly, we can improve as people. Each moment of time presents us with an everlasting opportunity to better ourselves from our prior status. We have breaks in the day to expand our knowledge, acquire cultural experiences, gain social insight, lift weights, etc.  We have breaks in the week to make more of ourselves. Even when we’re presented with chaos and a hectic work schedule, we are provided with a chance to be the best we can be. Those “tough” moments are the ones that are critical in determining who we are. When we are pushed against that brink of the comfort zone, we can either rupture our restraints that prevent discomfort or we can retreat back to the center of that comfort room, backing down from achieving anything extraordinary. Each battle in life defines us who we are and if we give it all during that battle, we experience improvements in our development.

Inherently endowed in these defining moments to make the most of ourselves is that our future will greatly feed off of these newly acquired traits and be more prepared to handle more challenging tasks. The more prepared we are and the more equipped we are with intelligence, knowledge, experience, physical strength, and mental toughness, the easier success is to attain.

Success can certainly only be realized upon a correlation of hard work and good performance. Representative of this is our lifestyle. A lifestyle determines how hard one is willing to work to be prepared and how well one will perform in the given dilemma. Subsequently, our lifestyle habits are reflected upon our actions; and our actions manifest from our beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, customs, values, ethics, and level of conduct. That is why lifestyle habits are so important. It is not what you do in a selective task, but what you put forth each and every day in a complete life that matters.

We all want to be successful. Most people value success monetarily, but it is something more than that. Success can simply be measured as leading a life committed to excellence. Not just monetarily, but upholding all principles and values worthy of moral and honorable fortitude.

Success within life is directly contingent upon the behavioral tendencies one leads and the actions encompassed within a lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle reflects willingness to make the most out of yourself. If you lead a life fully committed to excellence, you are guaranteed to put forth incredible effort in an attempt to seize each opportunity bestowed to you. If not, you will let the opportunities slip through your fingers until they are no longer available and a life of regret follows you. A lifestyle fully committed to this level of excellence is what you need to change your life for the better and utilize each opportunity as a stepping stone.

We have the immediate and foreseeable responsibility to take action and to take control of our lives, which will ultimately contribute to a healthier lifestyle and one that seizes opportunities. The present is what we need to focus on and the present is what we can work on to improve ourselves. We cannot control future events, but we can more prepared for the future by working on today. Every moment is a chance to work on minor characteristics within yourself that will ultimately ameliorate yourself on the whole. You need to work on eradicating those old habits of wastefulness and commence new habits that tend to focus on an increase in productivity.

It starts with managing actions and prioritizing what’s important in life. Time-management is essential and plotting out what you are going to do throughout the day is a must. If you have no plan, how do you expect to accomplish? Moreover, you need to work to be more productive by whetting skills. Every moment is an opportunity to sharpen your abilities. Whether it is reading, writing, or the nitty gritty tasks of your job, continually performing the actions is the only way to get better at them. Practice makes perfect and you need to sharpen fundamental skills frequently. Additionally, maintain focus and set goals high. If you set goals high and you miss, you probably still end up better off than if you set your goals low. The most important thing is to start taking action today to lead a more productive life. Don’t think of it as work, but as being a fun-filled adventure to give it your absolute best. Ultimately, make proper decisions and appropriate actions that will result in a healthy lifestyle worthy of social and moral significance.
