Lentils
Lentils is a super source of protein and iron. These little legumes make an excellent addition to a healthy diet for anyone, but especially for bodybuilders, weightlifters and vegetarians. They are also a good food source for diabetics because they have a low glycemic index which keeps blood sugar levels in check. Dieters love them due to their ability to make you feel fuller longer.
Lentils also contain a good amount of other vitamins and minerals such as B vitamins (especially B3 niacin), vitamin C, potassium, folate and phosphorus. They are low in calories and saturated fat and have absolutely no cholesterol.
The variety of lentils is another attractive feature for adding them to your nutritious diet. They come in a host of kinds (around 20) and colors (white, red, yellow, green, orange, brown and black) and each one has its own unique flavor. They can also be used in a variety of recipes from soups to burgers.
