Juicing Detox Diet

 

Every so often it is very important to detox your body by juicing with lots of fruits and vegetables. Your body requires a lot of energy and functionality from your organs every time you consume solid food. It's a lot of stress on your body, especially your kidneys, intestines, and stomach to produce the necessary by-products to break down the food and process the nutrients. I'm sure you've heard of colon cleansing which can remove several pounds of waste. We'll it's true, however, most colon cleanse products on the market are very dangerous for your health because they contain lots of herbs that haven't been put through scientific studies to understand their benefits vs. risk, and they contain harsh products like psyllium husk in them that can do more damage to your internal organs than good if not directed by a physician. Cleansing can be achieved by fasting for a period of time. What I like to do is instead of fasting, I take one day a week where I only consume my food through liquid form- mainly fruits, vegetables, and water with lemon. I also cut down on the protein that day to minimally none. Your organs need a rest just like any other part of your body. This helps bring my body's acidity level back to a normal pH level where my body is functioning well for fat loss and muscle growth for the rest of the week. It is important you do something like this once a week. You wouldn't walk out of your house without cleaning your skin (which is the largest organ in the body) with a shower, right? Well why shouldn't you clean your internal organs?

 

For those of you guys who are worried about losing muscle on that day, trust me, your muscles will be just fine with the 6 other days a week you gorge yourselves with meat and fish. If you eat upwards of 40 meals a week packed with protein in every meal, think about all that strain on your kidneys. The whole point of bodybuilding and training is so you can benefit your life and provide it with the tools it needs for longevity. Well, to ensure longevity, you need to make sure your organs are functioning properly. The last thing you want to deal with is some kind of organ failure down the road. Your body needs a rest and trust me, you'll look a lot leaner and more defined by cleaning out the crap stuck in the walls of your colon and intestines.

 

I usually perform this juicing day on a day that I'm not training. Here's a sample of a juicing day:

 
Breakfast:
Glass of Grapefruit Juice
Glass of Water with 2 Squeezed Lemons
 

Mid-Morning Snack:

Glass of Carrot Juice
Glass of Water
 

Lunch:

Glass of Apple Juice
Glass of Water with 2 Squeezed Lemons


Mid-Afternoon Snack:

Naked Vegetable Juice
Glass of Water with 2 Squeezed Lemons

The lemon in the water will help alkalize the body. While lemon itself is acidic, the body treats it as what is called an alkaline-forming food. Proteins and refined carbohydrates are very acidic in the body, while fruits and vegetables are very alkaline in the body. An acidic body is very dangerous for your health and not conducive to losing weight. Alkalizing your body with lemon will help you lose weight while preventing cancer cells from forming in your body.
 

Dinner:
2 Tsbp. Peanut Butter on 2 slices of Whole Wheat Toast
Glass of Water with 2 Squeezed Lemons
