Importance of Rest and Recovery for Muscle Growth and Fat Burning
We really want to stress the importance of rest and recovery. A lot of people are mentally addicted to the gym and some don't feel "right" if they don't lift weights or run. While those intentions are good, it's actually destructive for your body. Your body needs rest. your mind, your central nervous system, your organs, and your muscles need ample time to recover. Working out is very stressful to all those parts and in order for your body to work efficiently, you need to give it the proper time it needs to flush out the toxins and repair itself. Working out every day is not only not beneficial for you, it is actually destructive. You'll be worse off if you don't take time off from the gym, which will result in injuries and sickness. Would you rather skip one day from the gym every few days or 6 weeks for a separated shoulder? You do the math. I like to do a 2 day on, 1 day off split. I find that is most beneficial for me. Also, make sure your workouts are under an hour at a time. This is where testosterone is highest and cortisol doesn't set in.
