Yes, especially if you are looking to gain muscle mass- you want around 80 g of carbs before you workout. However, if you are looking to stay lean and lose a lot of fat, then eating the proper low glycemic carbohydrates and a moderate amount of them will be sufficient- in this case, 40 g would be enough.
