anyone have any good advice regarding swimming exercises. for example, should I do pool sprints? should I do butterflies? etc

you should do pool sprints. go as hard as you can to the other side then slowly swim back. repeat this until your exhausted. also, focus on doing freestyle primarily. butterflies can put enormous strain on your body if you don't do proper form. i take it that your a beginner so stick with freestyle.

Is it bad to swim everyday? or should you spread it out through the week like you would with running?

When I worked out doing swimming I did laps, as well as leg exercises it gives great leg resistance. I did swimming every other day and did machine workouts on the off days. Hope that helps.

I think swimming everyday is fine as long as you don't over do the exercising. Alternating swimming and exercising is better but swimming can be better then nothing.

Change up your routine and do all of them.
