Dwyane Wade’s workout training routine focuses on basketball drills and weight resisting exercises to improve his conditioning and to rebuild many of his weakened muscles as a result of his past shoulder and knee injuries.



Wade first starts off with working out with his physical therapist. Wade wants his physical therapist to make sure he’s stretched out and loose before he hits the basketball court for the first part of his workout. This is obviously essential to prevent any additional tweaks or injuries on the court. It is very important to be fully warmed and stretched before pertaking in any athletic activity. Wade hits the court for an hour to an hour of a half doing everything from shooting drills to conditioning, something he needs to continue doing if he wants to stay on top of his game.



Wade does some depth box jumps to improve his vertical leap. 



Wade then works out with Tim Grover, Michael Jordan’s former trainer. Grover incorporates flexibility, core work, stabilization and power all together since they are used all throughout a basketball game. When training for a sport, athletes should focus on workouts that relate to their sport. Grover is one of the best to work with. Look how good Jordan turned out!



Some of Wade’s most frequent workouts are ankle stretching and using the slideboard and acceleration platform. Grover does stretching and weight resisting band exercises with Wade’s ankles to prevent any future ankle sprains. Wade then goes to the slideboard to train his hip flexors, abductors and adductors, which help him with his power, explosion, and agility. Wade also does an acceleration exercise on a raised platform to improve his vertical jump and fitness levels.
