CUT THE FAT BY CUTTING THE CRAP!
Many of us consume the majority of our calories from snacks, rather then whole food meals. We often say to ourselves " ahh its just a couple cookies, how bad could it be"?…guess what? Eating just " a few cookies" or a bag of chips a day, could be the reason why you are not losing weight. There are 120 calories in 2 Oreo cookies? And who only eats JUST 2…I can bet you are going to eat atleast 5 or 6 at a time which is 600-720 calories not including the glass of 2% milk you dip them in! That contains about 100 grams of carbs, 25 grams of fat, 15 grams of saturated fat, about 50 grams of sugar, and ONLY a total of 5grams of protein! This all seems like a no-brainer, however sometimes we put things in our mouths without thinking about it, I bet you have never thought about a Oreo cookie the way you do now! The majority of women that weigh roughly 120 lbs should be eating 1300-1600 calories baseline which of course is dependent on numerous factors: goals, body type, activity level etc. If she consumed 6 cookies, she would have consumed 50% of her baseline caloric intake. It's no wonder the USA has an obesity epidemic, the majority of it is due to "harmless" small snacks! Think about what you put in your mouth, read labels and understand them.
Many of us eat our high calorie snacks before we go to bed, hence the tip " don't eat before you go to bed". The reason fitness professionals recommend you do not eat before bed is mainly because of what people eat. Chips, chocolate, candies, pop. This doesn't mean you cannot indulge in some snacks while watching t.v. at night. Consume some fruits, some veggies with a low calorie dip, almonds, homemade trailmix, or try preparing a protein "chocolate mousse". Add a bit of water to some protein powder in a bowl, add 1/2 a tablespoon of almond butter, cinnamon, whip it all together and enjoy a chocolate mousse.
Cutting out the crap from your diet WILL make the difference if you are trying to shed off the fat, build some lean muscle, tone your body, reduce blood pressure...need I say more?
