Personal Improvement
Consistency is Essential
People believe that they can see results by doing something once or twice and then moving on to the next thing. For instance, I know countless people who take up karate and then quit after a few sessions. If you believe that philosophy will work to make you skilled in anything then you are not only kidding yourself, but you will be hurting yourself in the end.
Success can only be realized through a dedicated commitment to never relinquish no matter how hard it may seem or how rough the road ahead may lie. Success is only achieved through hours and hours of practice. Professional athletes have tremendous innate ability. However, if they stopped there, they would still be amateurs; because those that work hard transcend those that rely solely on their talent. Time needs to be put in one particular area in order to see everlasting results come from it.
Consistency is essential to be somebody. Persistence is omnipotent in achieving formidable results. You need to be persistent and determined to get the task done and really do research and put hours and hours into that one goal. Your end goal should be internal motivation for you to keep coming back. For instance, if you want to be a great pianist, it will not take one day, a week, or even a year. It's going to take a very long time. You need to put in hours a day in order to learn the piano and from there on out you need to hone in on your skills and perfect them. You need to work on your weaknesses and enhance your strengths.
Look at your final goal of being great one day and use every day as inspiration and as a building block. Think of it as a very long staircase. Up top, there is eventually a door. There are many steps to get there. However, once you do get to the top it is nothing short of elated joy and happiness. Each day is a step. And after each committed hour is one step closer to the final goal. One day missed takes one day longer to get better.
This same attitude needs to be applied to physique building. If you want to develop strength and a lean muscular body, it takes hours in the gym. Not just one day here and one day there, but hours on a consistent basis. You need to pursue your goal by getting into the gym day in and day out. If you have a lot on your plate, stay committed to getting to the gym no matter what. Obviously, there will be days where it is necessary for you to miss the gym and take care of other priorities but the key is to really make time for the gym whenever you can.
Put forth every effort to reach your final goal in whatever you seek to do. Don't fold the cards when the going gets tough after a few sessions, but keep pushing forward with the eye on the prize. Consistency is essential to achieving anything worthwhile.
