Super celery provides a host of nutrients which makes it a good choice for meals, snacks and fresh juice drinks. Celery contains compounds called coumarins which are phytochemicals that enhance white blood cell activity used in fighting infections and cancer. Coumarin compounds also work to provide a healthy vascular system and lower blood pressure. Studies show that celery lowers cholesterol and improves the body’s ability to detoxify itself. Not to mention, celery is a food that you actually burn more calories digesting than the calories you take in from eating it.
Those active in fitness programs will find that including celery in post-workout juice drinks will replenish electrolyte levels depleted by high intensity workouts via this superfood’s high potassium and sodium combination. Studies have also found that celery contains 85% of an extract called 3nB which alleviates muscle aches and pains.
