Cashews
Cashews, as with all nuts, are a healthy choice for snacking because of their high nutritional value. However, because of their mild taste and desirable texture, cashews are also used in a variety of food dishes.
These delightful nuts contain important minerals such as zinc, calcium, iron, potassium, copper, manganese, selenium, phosphorus and magnesium. They are also rich in vitamin K and folate. Besides providing the nutrients for healthy cell growth and bodily function, cashews have high levels of tryptophan (1000-2000 mg per handful), an amino acid that studies have shown work on boosting the mood, eliminating depression and stabilizing the thought processes.
Cashews contain oleic acid which makes them great for heart health and the reduction of triglyceride levels in those suffering from diabetes. They have also been linked to successful weight loss due to their good fat content which satisfies hunger longer.
