Cam Newton NFL Draft Combine Workout
Cam Newton workout training routine at the NFL Combine wasn’t utterly impressive when it came to his throwing mechanics. The Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn connected on 11 of 21 pass attempts and was outmatched in many aspects by Florida State’s Christian Ponder. Newton overthrew several go routes and deep out patterns.
However, Newton impressed with his legs. Newton, with a height and weight of 6’5” and 248 lbs., ran a 4.59 40-yard dash (the same time as Jake Locker) and his vertical leap was 35 inches. His 10 1/2-foot broad jump tied for tops among all quarterbacks. Virginia Tech's Tyrod Taylor ran a 4.51 40 yard dash, the best among 40 time among all quarterbacks.
Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert ran a 4.63 40-yard dash.
