Burning Fat Around the Abs

Burning Fat Around the Abs

A lot of people start to see results relatively quickly when they start working out. Usually they see some good results in the upper body muscle definition first. Sometimes it's the calves that respond first but usually the upper body with the arms in particular. Then I hear the problem that even thought the upper body is responding, the stomach fat is proving very stubborn to get rid of.

So let's address that situation first. If you can, imagine a layer of water over a mountain range. I prefer the Rockies but if the Alps are your thing then fill your boots. All you see on the top is water. However, maybe only 20 feet under that water you have the top of a mountain. Then 3 miles lower you have the bottom of that valley.

In order to the see the valley, you have to remove a lot more water than you do to see the top of the mountain. So what the heck am I saying?

What I am saying is there is less fat stored on the upper body then there is on areas like the lower stomach and thighs. So, back to the water thing again. When the water level starts to go down. It's going down everywhere, but you see the mountain peaks first.

So what do you do? Keep on doing what you are doing until you get to the bottom. It's working, trust me. If you see the definition coming in on the upper body, then the abdominal area is sure to follow if you keep eating strict and training hard.

Regardless of my fantastic water explanation I still get asked "Is there any particular type of cardio that is best for burning stomach fat?" Well, if you just listened to what I said then you would know that any cardio that burns fat is going to burn stomach fat and no cardio is going to be better than another at SPECIFICALLY burning stomach fat. It's going to come off all over. So then what cardio do I suggest? It's going to be dependent on your fitness level, situations and goals but I default to interval training myself. That or simply training fast in the gym and eating really tight.

Before I go, lets touch on eating for getting rid of that extra fat. Do you suppose eating big portions if you're really hungry after all the exercising that your doing is fine? If it's healthy does it matter that meal sizes are big? In one word, YES. Of course it matters. Everything matters. You want to take in no more than you need and you want to try to even it out over 4-6 meals. Gorging at 1-3 meals is not going to give you the same results if fat loss is your goal.

Having said that, eating big meals of healthy foods will do WAY less damage than eating garbage processed foods due to the high calorie content you can consume in a short period of time.
