Burger King Unveils Home Delivery Service

The Home of the Whopper is now appearing at your nearest doorstep.

For the past few months, Burger King has been doing home delivery at four of its Washington D.C. area restaurants. Things have been pretty successful so the nation's second largest fast food chain is looking to expand even more.

However, there has been long-held consumer perception that fast-food burgers and fries travel poorly and don't warm up well in the microwave. To answer its critics, Burger King has developed a "proprietary thermal packaging technology" which supposedly ensures that the food is delivered fresh and hot.

With this service comes a $2 delivery fee. And depending on the store and location (there are currently three in Maryland and one in Virginia), minimum orders range from from $8 to $10.

Within 30 minutes of placing an order on the phone or online, those stores try to deliver within 30 minutes. Delivery customers must be within a 10-minute drive of the store. All soft-drink orders are in bottles and breakfast items are not delivered. Delivery times are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

This is probably bad news for most people. Fast food is not good for you, no matter how much you want to twist the facts. Now, people don't have to worry about getting up and moving their legs to go out and get a meal. Burger King will bring it to you, adding to the element of laziness. That doesn't sit well with obesity. With the obesity epidemic getting worse, fast food chains have only gotten stronger. Who would've known?
