Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.

Notice: Body mass index is not an accurate gauge of how physically fit you are. This is based upon average bodyweight standards as compared to height. Bodyfat percentage is the real measurement to physical health. For instance, an athlete who has a low bodyfat may have a body mass index that will be considered obese just because of his sheer overall muscle mass. This measurement should only be taken with a grain of salt. Body mass index can overstate or understate your overall health.
