Amare Stoudemire Discovers His Jewish Roots
Amare Stoudamire was the biggest winner in the Free Agency Frenzy of Summer 2010. Amare Stoudemire left the Phoenix Suns for greener pastures and was scooped up by the New York Knicks with a mega $100 million deal over 5 years. Despite two injuries that took him out for 2 seasons, the Knicks are confident that they are getting the stud who played every single game this year including a tremendous Game 3 playoff performance against the Lakers where he scored 42 points and grabbed 11 boards in a Pheonix win.
Amare is a tremendous player on the court (the biggest player in Knicks franchise history since legend Patrick Ewing) but his experiences off of it, as of late, have grown some attraction throughout the media. Amare has went to Israel to discover his roots, whereupon his mother is of Jewish descent.
Amare couldn't have picked a better city to play ball since New York is one of the most heavily Jewish populated sects in the world. The state of New York has a Jewish population of nearly 10%. In New York City alone, there are over two million Jews.
Two weeks ago, Stoudemire said this on Twitter:
For whatever is born of (Yah) GOD overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world– our faith. 1 John 5:4 Shalom
Last week, Stoudemire said this on Twitter:
