If doing a high number of reps, you should envision getting it up one rep at a time. Don't look at the ultimate number, but rather break it up into mini-sets, pause for a couple of seconds and repeat. For instance, in a set of 50 reps, think of it as 5 sets of 10 with a 2 to 3 second pause in between each set. This might make it seem easier to accomplish and therefore, if you apply this method to all your sets, you could probably do more reps than you initially thought you could in any exercise! 

 



Your body does not build muscle when you are in the gym. Rather, it builds it when you rest after it has been properly stimulated. You can train harder than anyone, have the healthiest diet, but only get 3-4 hours of sleep a night. By taking this approach, your hard work and efforts won’t pay off like you want them to. Make sure you get adequate sleep (7-9 hours) and you take the appropriate time off from the gym to give your muscles ample time to recover.

 




You should increase protein consumption when dieting. When you deprive your body of calories from fat and carbohydrates, your body will burn amino acids from protein or even muscle. The extra protein can protect muscle loss because it can be burned instead of muscle tissue.
